Summary: Well, there's Kevin and Scoty and there's Chad and Jason... That makes four.... ;)
Extra: This story keeps up with the idea I had in the "Christmas 2008"-series,, that Jason goes to Bolivia, but does NOT take into account what happened in the "Time to say goodbye"-series.
Scotty stirs the sauce one more time to make sure it doesn’t stick, when Kevin comes in.
“Hey. Hungry?” Scotty asks, feeling Kevin’s lips brush his cheeks, before claiming his mouth.
“Yes.” Kevin answers, once he breaks away from the kiss. That is when it takes Scotty a few moments to remember what the question was again.
“Guess, who walked into our office this afternoon.” Kevin says. Scotty shrugs. Why should he care who would bother to show up at a Republican office? “Jason.” Kevin replies, not waiting for Scotty’s answer.
“As in Jason McCallister?”
“The one and only.”
“Isn’t he supposed to be in Bolivia?” Scotty knows the answer to that one.
“Yes, but he’s back for a few days. He’ll return to Bolivia on Saturday.”
“Did you ask him to have dinner with us?”
“I did, with the reservation that I didn’t know what your work-schedule was. Or, translated, I didn’t know if you would agree.” Scotty appreciates that Kevin leaves the decision, to invite Jason, up to him. It’s not that he minds Jason's coming over, but that Kevin would make such a spur-of-the-moment decision and only later realize what it means to Scotty.
“I don’t mind, except… the only available evening would be Thursday… but that is when we have Chad here, his last dinner before he goes away. I don’t want to cancel that. Chad said he was looking forward to it, when we called.”
“We invite both of them.”
“Both? Are you sure this would be a good idea?” Scotty asks.
“No. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll blame you.” Kevin grins.
“You always do.” Scotty replies and quickly makes a mental list of things that he needs to change. “Alright, invite both of them. It will be fun.”
Chad sincerely wonders if he is ready for another meeting with Kevin and Scotty. Kevin still takes his breath away. He is STILL has this special feeling for Kevin, but he can see Kevin’s interest in Scotty too. Scotty is hot and cute and …. Chad promises himself he will not ask them for another three-some. He swears to that.
His phone beeps. A message. From Kevin.
“Chad, old friend comes over on Th-day 2. Problem? Kev.” An old friend? Oh, why not?
“Gay 2?” Chad asks in return.
“OK.” And now Chad is curious, while on the other side of town, Kevin sighs with relief.
“Jason McCallister.” Jason’s voice is soft and warm on the phone.
“Hi, it’s Kevin. Listen. I talked to Scotty, but the only available night would be next Thursday….”
“Fine with me.”
“One little problem. We already made plans with another friend to come over as well. Is that a problem?”
“Is it someone I know?” Jason asks.
“His name may have been mentioned a time or two..” Kevin replies vaguely.
Jason shakes his head with a smile, wondering if Kevin is trying to hook him up with someone. But then he cancels the thought, knowing that Kevin knows, that he doesn’t like these set-ups. He will just have to trust Kevin, then.
“Thursday will be alright.”” He accepts.
By Thursday-evening Scotty is a mess. He sincerely wishes that he had not allowed Kevin to invite his two exes. Worse. It was his own stupid fault. Kevin had given him all the chances to bail out, but he had sincerely believed he could handle it. What HAD he been thinking?
He will be here with Chad and Jason, who both look absolutely stunning and are interesting and have fascinating lives. And once again Scotty feels terrible. He’ll be the youngest, the one with the least interesting job and with the average looks. Kevin will sit there and compare and realize what a mistake he made and….
A hand rests on his hip, Kevin kisses the back of his neck and murmurs:
“That smells good …. And so does the food.” Scotty smiles. Somehow Kevin’s tender touch brush away his fears. He leans with his back against Kevin’s chest for a few seconds just to feel him close.
Kevin is not a fool, he had noticed the little anxious look on Scotty’s face.
“You know, Scotty, having them here won’t make a difference to me. You are the most handsome man I’ve ever seen and I don’t want any other. I married you because I love you… Only you.” Scotty is about to kiss Kevin, when there’s a knock on the door…
