A Year in Fic
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
More. WAAAAAAY more. “The 39 steps” was a lot. 39 days of writing one page every day…
Where did you publish/archive your stories?
All the stories here at my LJ are also at brothers & sisters forum (with the exception of the RPS and K/J/S ones), and community.livejournal.com/bs fic (with the exception of the RPS one) and only the ‘decent’ ones at fanfiction.net.Brothers & Sisters
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2008?
Pairing: Kevin/Scotty/Jason… A real shocker for me too.
Genre: RPS. – I still blush when I see that Matthew/Luke fic…
Fandom: I started with B&S and that is where I stayed…. Plenty left to still write about.
What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.
Pillow Talk. The Kevin/Scotty relationship through the ‘eyes’ of the Liza Minelli pillow in Kevin’s loft.
Okay, NOW your most popular story..
I really don’t know. Never kept tabs on how many replies I get…. I guess however that Time to say goodbye (K/S/J) scores very high, for some very, very odd reason.
Story most under-appreciated by the universe?
Introspection Holly Harper Don’t know, but I really loved the story and no one else did. Maybe because it’s about Holly…
Story that could have been better?
Don’t know. I never look back at my stories in that way. Not that I think they are perfect, but I can’t change them anymore. It’s like exam-papers. Once submitted, no more corrections.
Be careful what you ask for. Part 4. The built up in the previous chapters, really exploded here. Lots of fun.
Most fun story?
Searching for perfection. But I also love the series such as "Honey-moon road trip", "Boat trip" and "The 39 steps".
Story with single sweetest moment?
Gave it my best try. Nobody writes a better love-letter then Kevin. Though I also love Sunday's early sunlight.
The story that made you cry?
3 have made me cry. Tales from the pantry: From Halloween to New Year's day . Especially the William part, because I really wanted to shatter Kevin. "My little girl", but that comes later and 39 steps - step 18 - 1.22 Favorite son. I wish that no one would ever have to make the choice Tommy had to make.
Hardest story to write?
My little girl. It got too close. All I had to do was go back to sitting next my own little girl in the ER, waiting for her to wake up. It was harder then I thought. Very emotional.
Easiest story to write?
There's drop (45 minutes, I believe), The 39 steps - step 30 - 1.10 Light the lights, I wrote it in no time. Just ‘heard’ it.
Most overdue story?
My alternative Brothers & Sisters-story.
The events from 1.07’s table scene, through Tyler, Scotty, Joe, Julia, Warren, David the constructor and from a different perspective. I have a really funny idea about it, but it just won’t let me write it.
Most unintentionally telling story
It's a question of trust. Part 1. From Kevin's POV
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
“The 39 steps” Because it was hard work to get a story every day, especially when my daughter got called to hospital for her 3rd operation. Then, weirdly enough, the operation got cancelled and re-scheduled to 2 days after the ’39 steps’ had finished….. (Cue to music of the X-files. Twilight zone, etc…)
I was worried about “Pillow talk.” And “There’s a drop.” Because they were a bit off beat, but at the same time it was an interesting process to write from a completely different angle or a story based on a single word.
Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?
I would like to write a story for bsgslash.
That community is based on the original series of Battlestar Galactica, when Apollo and Starbuck were two lovely, goodlooking men, but so far their prompts haven’t activated my Cylon nature…. Maybe I ought to rewatch the series again? Maybe I ought to finally finish my story I started 8 years ago on my type-writer…?
