2.16’s missing scenes: Cut 00016
We missed a lot scenes that should have been somewhere in one of the episodes.... but in 2.16 so many pieces were missing that I decided to write them after all.
Here's the sixteenth:
…Who needs enemies?
About : Scotty/Kevin
Disclaimer: B&S is not mine
Summary: Not so much a real missing scene as a sequel to With friends like these..... , because I wasn't done with it yet. :-)
“Hey, sweetie, you’re home early.” Kevin says, without looking up from his paperwork. “Is everything alright?”
“Sure.” Scotty answers, grumpier than planned. Now Kevin looks up.
“Did you have an argument with someone?”
“Are you absolutely sure you’re alright?”
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Are you mad at me? Did I do something? Was it something I said? Were we supposed to meet somewhere, that I forgot about… because in that case, I’m terribly sorry, it’s been a bad day.” Kevin replies apologetic.
“No.” Scotty answers in a harsh tone and then a little softer: “No, you didn’t do anything wrong. I had a bad evening, okay, I’m going to bed….” He gives Kevin a quick kiss on the lips to prove that he’s not angry with Kevin and leaves for the bedroom.
When Kevin eventually joins him, half an hour later, Scotty pretends to be asleep. Kevin knows this, he can tell the difference by Scotty’s breathing. But he also realizes that if Scotty doesn’t want to talk about it, than that is his choice.
Kevin is happy to know that at least Scotty is not mad at him. With the hectic days they had these last weeks, it is easy to get irritated, forget something or slip up. He slips under the covers, puts his pillow closer to Scotty’s, slides his arm underneath Scotty’s pillow and wraps an arm around him.
Pressed up against his future-husband he tries to get some sleep, when in the darkness comes Scotty’s voice:
“I love you.”
“Well, I better hope so, we are about to get married.” He keeps his voice light and cheerful, although, underneath, his worry about Scotty and his reactions shimmer through.
Scotty sits up and turns on the light.
“Are we moving too fast? With the ceremony, I mean.”
“Getting cold feet, honey?”
Scotty needs to think about that, but then he shakes his head.
“No. It’s just…. I don’t know. Tonight I had to hear once again someone say that by marrying you I will benefit financially and that is not why….”
“Scotty! I don’t care what anyone else in the frigging world says or thinks. But….. I…” He stops, he’s suddenly worried that Scotty will change his mind and not marry him.
“What do you want me to DO? Give all my money to charity and return to being some junior desk-clerk, so that we are “equals”? I can’t do that, I’m sorry. Aside from the fact that my family would, rightfully, have me declared insane, I’ve worked my ass off to get the stability and status I have now. And you know what? The next years you will be working like crazy too, because you are just as driven as me, 7 years ago.
And when you are 35 years old you will have an income that may even exceed mine… And I’ll have to deal with that too… And in the meantime, I want to be your husband, I want you to be mine. I am perfectly aware of the differences between us, and so are you. But I have asked you to me marry me and I didn’t do for laughs. I was,.. I am,… serious about wanting to share my life with you. But I need to know that you are just committed to this as I am…”
Scotty takes a long look at Kevin. God, he loves that expressive face and the beautiful blue eyes that now reveal concern. No, Kevin didn’t propose for laughs, he was serious about it and he deserves Scotty to be honest about himself too.
“You’re right. I want to be your husband, because I love you and .. to hell with rest of the world.”
“That’s right!” Kevin says with a victorious smile and he kisses Scotty.
