Finally! The show managed to make me laugh!  ;)

Omg he is precious! And no offense to gorgeous Luke but keeping Scotty (aka the gay) out of the scene is about as difficult as Matthew forgetting to be Welsh... very funny indeed!

Really? It's funny how perception works, I don't see Scotty (or "gay", even if it I'm not sure of what you mean) at all in these scenes. I think maybe is about which character you felt more identified in B&S, because for me this happens with Matthew, I'm not able to see him in other roles after B&S and not see Kevin in it, or in interiews like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJPS65y-_io

I don't know how to explain what I'm seeing, but I don't think its related to how I identify with Scotty, because I don't see it in other roles. (like Over there, or any of the movies or TV shows he's been on) But you are absolutely right it IS my perception. What I perceive as 'Scotty' are a combination of mannerisms that he mostly used when performing as Scotty. His tone of voice (overly - excited) and very precise pronunciation, excess hand gestures, overly expressive facial gestures and a laugh that may be his own, that he seemed to reserve for Scotty and hasn't used on other characters - a goofy sweet shyish laugh.

When he brings out the vision board 3 or 4 times and is goofyish, giggly, overly excited etc, that reminds me of Scotty. In the final cut, he manned it up a bit - I think.

Any certainly not a big deal, just trying to describe want I mean when I say I see bits of Scotty in this character.

Oh! I didn't mean that you identified more with Scotty, I meant that for the comments and the conversations I had with fans of K/S it seems to be a tendency that the ones who were more fans of Kevin/Matthew have more difficulties seeing Luke in other roles than Scotty and that the ones who were more fans of Scotty/Luke have more problems in seeing Matthew in other roles. It's like having problems for letting the other character go and have a life of their own lol!.... I don't know maybe I'm over psychoanalysing it :D

About seeing Scotty in Jason, I think Jason, Scotty and Luke share that they are modern young man who live in urban cities and seem to be nice and kind. This is different from a military man or a serial killer, so is normal that there is more of Luke or Scotty in Jason than in the psycho from Person of Interest. But I don't see what this have to do about being"gay". I don't see any differences in his mannerism that the ones who have the other male actors of Satisfaction in the different bloppers. And none of the harsh negative reviews that some people made of Satisfaction have mentioned it, so I don't think it's something perceived for people who don't know about Luke in real life. It's not a big deal, but seeing how is so difficult for out actors in Hollywood to find roles, it's something that I think it's not fair for them to say :)

Sorry for the long comment :D

I don't know but when I watch the bloopers I see Luke. I think that's why the bloopers of Satisfaction remind me of those of B&S, because it's not Scotty/Jason but Luke.

But that's just me. :)
16th-Aug-2013 07:19 pm (UTC)
Yes, me too. I only see Luke. That bloppers made me miss a lot Matthew/Luke in the bloppers of B&S... they were so funny and had so much chemistry. lol! Today I'm having a "B&S nostalgia day".

Pat Thorton seems to be very nice in the bloppers too.And he is a fan of The Americans and Matthew! Have you read this tweet from him?
""Also a guy from my show used to play Matthew Rhys' husband on Brothers and Sisters.I've talked his ear off about the Americans""
lol! This is so sweet. I wonder if Luke is a fan of The Americans too.

I feel so sorry for Luke. He will soon be suing for divorce! He's NEVER going to get rid of that Welsh-guy! :)
17th-Aug-2013 07:22 am (UTC)
lol! Yeah! and that's a good thing :D

Hmmm. Well, I'm not really sure what you mean. I am more of a fan of Kevin/Matthew but I have no issues seeing Luke in other roles. At all. Ever. Seeing Matthew in other roles bugs me more. Not because he us unloyal to Luke/Scotty per se, but because I just don't like the characters in the other roles quite as much as I adored Kevin and Scotty....

In your Jason /Scotty comparison you are comparing demographics and such, (where they live etc) but when I say they remind me of each other I'm talking about mannerisms and expressions, etc. That said, I can see that it bugs you and I wasn't intending to offend. Honestly... :(
17th-Aug-2013 07:22 am (UTC)
Yes, I know that you're talking about mannerisms and expressions :) It's that why can't they have the same mannerisms and expressions if they are very similar characters in terms of demographics and attitudes? I just don't see anything "gay" at all in these expressions, nor I read any review about Jason character that says something like this, and there are some reviews that are pretty harsh so if they had seen it they would have told it.

awww! I know you wasn't intending to offend :) I like to discuss about these things and maybe I'm over sensitive with this topic :D So, don't worries it has been a very interesting discussion :)

I'm not a fan of this series though I have made an effort to watch it. For me, I also see Scotty rather than Jason: mannerisms, expressions and that unmistakable voice is what does it for me, I just can't shake it off - and the down to earth, regular, in a relationship guy that he plays doesn't help. The only other things that I've seen Luke in are POI and Beauty and The Beast - both of these characters were very different to Scotty/Jason so I was able to switch off from B&S.

When watching Matthew I rarely see Kevin, or any of the other characters he's played; the expressions and mannerisms that do repeat themselves seem to be personal traits identifiable with Matthew rather than to a particular character he's played...and because he invariably uses a range of accents for different characters, it is easier for me to not connect any of them as I do with Luke's characters.

Anyway, to get back to the bloopers - they, along with the entire series, have done nothing to make me laugh...smile a little, yes, but laugh, no. Sorry!

Those are interesting points. We've all talked about Luke to death, but conversely in the case of Matthew, though he has identifiable and universal traits as a person, "Kevin's" personality never appears in other characters he's played. (sometimes I wish it did, LOL!) But sadly I need to pop in an ep of B&S to see that. Not even in interviews do I see a little peek of Kev!
17th-Aug-2013 05:26 pm (UTC)
Yes, that is what I was triying to explain before :) In my case, is the contrary, I'm not able to see "The Americans" without seeing Kevin, and in other roles too. And I spoke with other people who had the same problem! And Matthew fans have this problem with Luke. lol! It's so weird!:D

But when you read reviews and opinions from the press and the general public nobody mention these things, no one said that Jason or Philip are like Scotty or Kevin, so it's one thing that happen to the fans of B&S. It's very interesting :)

Wha!!!!!?????? Ok, luv you to pieces girl, but I don't get this argument.

You just said you can't watch the Americans without seeing Kevin, so if that's the case then why is it SO hard for you to understand that I see Scotty within Jason??? I would think you would relate based on the above revelation.

But I guess its a moot point that I will try to keep to myself. Starting now... :)

OK. I think the problem is my english because from the very first comment I told exactly the same thing that I just have said: that is funny how perception works because what happen to you with Luke it happens to me with Matthew. And I post my "pseudo theory" in the very first post. :( I guess I don't know how to explain myself. Sorry.
