.. who's celebrating her birthday today.

1. My favorite moment in "Steel Magnolias". The one that could make me first cry and then laugh. Of course, it is the scene at the cemetary.

and one of my favorite Nora/Kevin moments. Ah... a mother's unconditional love as it SHOULD be.

Nora forever!!
Loved her in Forrest Gump & in Norma Rae. And in ER.
And all the Kevin/Nora moments are priceless! Maybe the best Mother/Son relationship on a TV show!

Great Lady!

It is true that I always feel that I'm intruding in a personal conversation when I see Nora/Kevin. They are so in the moment that I forget that they're just acting.

Anyone going to see Lincoln? I usually don't go for that type of movie, but her performance looks like yet another stellar one and it has my curiosity up. I never really paid much attention to her as an actor before B&S but definitely came to appreciate her talent.

i don't know yet. I love historical movies, Daniel Day-Lewis is such an amazing actor, so it's tempting, but I'll most likely watch it on the internet. I'm not sure I'd go to the movies to see it.
I never really 'search' for Sally's movies, but I know that when I tumble into one, that she can usually pull me in and keep me interested.

I want a mother like her too...

my sister can be proud to share a birthday with this amazing person :)

The best thing you can do is BE a mother like Nora. Your kids will need therapy at 40, but who cares? :)

No, seriously, having a mom like Nora isn't the worst thing, but I would like to see her give her kids just a little more freedom...

Um... I don't want Nora as a mom, but Sally :) and I hope that someday my kids come to me with whatever problem they have.

Awwww! That scene is really one of the best of B&S. Nora was always so great and such a good mother and compasionate and lovely...

I agree, it's why I chose it. It always brings tears to my eyes, how she loves her son so much that she wants his weddingday to be as beautiful as that of her other kids. No difference between them.
