Summary: When Scotty has to deal with too many disasters at once, William offers him a solution that will change his life

When Chad exits the bathroom, no longer sticky from their love-making earlier that hour, he’s greeted by the view of Jason lying naked, on his belly, on the bed. Chad stops, licks his lips, desire welling up inside him again, his cock responding to the not-so-pure thoughts in his mind.

“If you continue to show me that beautiful ass of yours like that, we’ll never get of this room….” He says, lying down on Jason to kiss his neck. Jason chuckles and undergoes the wet kisses and the sensual way Chad licks his skin.
“You’re insatiable.” Jason grins. “Not that I’m complaining….”

He bucks up a bit and Chad gives him room to roll over.
“So, tomorrow is the big day for Kevin and Scotty?”
“Yes. I’ve lost track of my days, but not that much.” Chad answers. Jason nods.
“I ordered up the newspapers….” He says. “Looks like Robert will be acquitted.”

“Well, they can’t prove that it wasn’t an accident.” Chad points out. “..because it was an accident.”
“I would have flown right back to London if Robert would have had to go to prison, you know that, don’t you?” Jason asks and Chad sighs. The death of Jack still weighs heavily on Jason’s conscience.

“Yes. I know. I know you love your brother, you would never have let an innocent man go to prison. Especially not Robert. But Robert took the blame. I told the police that we were nowhere near. And all you had to do was say that you were asleep in the car and have no idea of time and distance, while I was driving. It all worked out.”

Jason nods silently and Chad has to know.
“Do you want to call Robert and tell him where we are?”
“No! Oh, no! I like being Mr Finster for now. I have no desire to become a McCallister again anytime soon.”

“After all the work we put into quietly getting the right paper-work for Jason Finster, rather than Jason McCallister. I was terrified that your family would find out and we would get in trouble.” Chad says.
“I’m still happy that hardly anyone knows your real last name.” Jason admits.

“Glad that that bastard of a father of mine finally managed to bring something good to my life.” Chad sighs, reaching out to Jason for a kiss. “For the time being no one is looking for us under this name. And after tomorrow, no one will find us here in Venice either, because we will no longer be here.”

“I hope the house will be good.”
“It’s the danger of buying a house unseen, but I’m sure that whatever comes our way, we can handle it.” Chad says. Jason looks at him.
“You really think that we can make it? As a couple?”

“I don’t know…” Chad answers in all honesty. “But I like you and I’m willing to give it a try. It may not be the mad love that I have for Scotty or that you had for Kevin, but…” He shrugs. “..I don’t know, … maybe we can create something that is strictly our own. Just Chad and Jason’s.”

“I’d like that.” Jason whispers, pulling Chad closer for a kiss. Chad answers the kiss with the right amount of passion. For the first time in a long time, he feels happy, in the knowledge, that he has Jason, the promise of a house in the country he loves and enough money on their joint account to have an easy life…

“What do you think?” Scotty turns in front of the mirror.
“You look amazing.” Justin answers.
“Good enough for Kevin, you think?” Scotty wonders. He straightens his suit-jacket again.

“Stop tugging at it, you’ll ruin it.” Justin points out.
“I’m nervous.”
“Get a grip. You’re only getting married.”
“Says the guy who still not commit to his girl-friend.”

“You know what I mean.” Justin waves it away. He takes a long look at Scotty, who nervously checks himself in the mirror over and over again. “You really want to do this, don’t you? Getting married to Kevin?” Scotty turns to him, a flabbergasted face.
“Of course I do. I love him…” He says.

“I can’t go to Wales. You won’t stay here…. I’m going to lose you.”
“We’re only a few hours away from each other. It’s not the end of the world.”
“I know, it’s just…” Justin shyly moves his foot around. “I’m going to miss you.” He confesses in a little voice and Scotty melts inside.

He walks over to Justin and places a hand in his neck to force Justin to look at him.
“You’re my best friend, but one of these days, you’ll finally get some sense and marry that girlfriend of yours and have a life of your own. I’m not going to wait for that to happen.

I’m going to miss you too, but I’m going to gain a beautiful husband, a wonderful house, a lovely kitchen and I plan to have a great life. With Kevin. Be happy for me.”
“I am.”
“Then let me see your beautiful smile, don’t doubt my choice and give me away to your brother…”

“Guess I don’t have much of a choice, do I?” Justin sighs.
“None, whatsoever…” Scotty grins and Justin joins him, never sad for long anyway.
“Scotty, if he ever hurts you…” he warns and Scotty grins. Then Justin realizes that Kevin is his brother and adds: “… If you ever hurt him…

Robert helps Kevin adjust his tie.
“Thank you.” Kevin says with a smile.
“It’s me who should thank you, at least now I can feel a little useful.”

“Yeah, you look a little lost.” Kevin has to admit it.
“I feel like I’m going crazy.”
“Because of Jase?” Kevin asks, though he already knows the answer.

“He’s gone. He left everything behind and just left. Bank-account is cleaned out. So is Chad’s. Everything is gone.”
Kevin feels a twitch of guilt, because he can see how worried Robert is and he also has an idea where Jason is and he wonders if he should or shouldn’t drop a hint. Instead he tries a different approach.

“I wouldn’t be too worried about Jason. He’s a smart guy.”
“I know. I just wished that I knew why he literally disappeared from my life. I know that Jack was possessive and controlling, but I thought that I had it under control. I tried to give Jason his freedom to be who he wants to be… I just …. Why didn’t he talk to me?” Robert wonders and Kevin bites the inside of his cheek.

“Because he’s been silenced too long?” Kevin offers. Robert gives him a surprised look and Kevin turns so he can completely face Robert. “Robert, I don’t have to lie to you. Jase holds a special place in my heart. He was my first real boyfriend and … to be honest, even I have always had this need to ‘rescue him’ from the McCallisters.”

“Was it really that bad?” Robert wonders, unable to imagine that Kevin would really feel that way. Kevin nods.
“Being in your house, especially with Jack around, felt stifling. There was no sense of freedom and even permission to explore your possibilities.

I was always unable to put my finger on what it was. I grew up in a free home, where my parents encouraged me to express myself. Even when I came out, it was accepted with an easy ‘Well, if that is who Kevin is...’. I never had to fight a losing battle to have my own identity.

Jason was a dreamer. A tender loving man who searched for acceptance. And… Believe it or not, Chad is searching for that same acceptance. I think, it was what attracted them to each other in the first place. This need to be loved and cherished, to be special, to be who you are and not having to pretend to be someone else.

I believe that the best way to get Jason back, is by letting him go. Set him free. Let him make his mistakes, let him try to build something with Chad…”
“I would love that. If I, for one minute, believed he was happy,… I’d let him go…” Robert says.

Kevin picks up a card and gives it to Robert.
“Read this. This is a lovely couple, who couldn’t be here because they have their own honeymoon.” Robert reads the card and smiles.
“They seem happy and cheerful.”

“I believe they are a very happy couple.” Kevin nods.
“The Finsters. Never heard of them. Are they friends of Scotty’s?”
“They are friends of both of us.”
“If I would see the same cheerfulness on Jason…”

Kevin wonders what to do. Was it really only Jack who created the toxic oppressive feeling, or was Robert a part of it too? If he told Robert where Jason was, would Robert immediately try to get Jason back? Would he push Jason to make a choice? Or would he give Jason the freedom to discover who he is?

He plays with the card and then looks at Robert, who stares out the window, his mind a million miles away. Kevin hands Robert the card and he makes a decision.
“Oh, by the way, Robert, ... did you know that Barry was Chad’s stage name, but that his real name is Finster?” Kevin calmly says.
