Summary: Sometimes it’s the little things…. (season 2 somewhere)

Scotty sighs and he looks around. The loft is spotless and clean. Clothes washed and ironed. Dishes washed and put back in place. Not a speck of dust to be found. Books neatly reorganized, just as Kevin likes them. CD and DVDs no longer all over the place.... Scotty sits down on the couch. Bored out of his mind.
When Kevin had told him that he had a legal convention in Seattle, Scotty had been thrilled. One week alone at the loft. He imagined himself with a nice drink and all sorts of foods that he would usually not eat… Shrimp being high on that list… All the things he could do in one week.
The recipes he could finally work out on the computer, that he didn’t have to share with Kevin. The music he could listen to, all those bands that Kevin didn’t like. He could watch some movies, that Kevin thought were a complete waste of money. It would be a glorious week….
It's not taht he would call the ‘glorious’ week a disaster either, but the truth was, he had missed Kevin. It wasn’t even the big ‘misses’, like the empty space in bed. The warm body he couldn’t snuggle up to in the middle of the night. It wasn’t the coming home late to an empty house either.
It was all these small things. Automatically taking a second cup for Kevin’s coffee, setting the table for two, too many eggs at breakfast, because in his mind Kevin would be there too. He missed how Kevin would always put his keys in the same place, because the fact that the keys were there, meant that Kevin was home. Now the place remains empty no matter how often he looks.
He misses how Kevin would come into the kitchen, hug him from behind, place a kiss on his shoulder and then move on with his own thing, whatever that would be… Just that little tender moment, where he would pause and reconfirm their relationship. Those little things that had apparently become more important to Scotty than he had believed.
He would give quite a lot of money if he could just sit here and have Kevin with him, right now! Of course, Kevin will be gone for two more days, so it’s unlikely that he’ll suddenly pop up, but still Scotty would like to see it happen. He sighs and reaches out for this tea when the phone rings.
Startled by the sudden shrill noise in the quiet room, he quickly picks up.
“Hello?” He asks. Why hadn’t he checked to see who had called first?
“Hi….” Kevin’s voice is suddenly so close to him.
“Hey…” Scotty starts to smile.
“How’s your bachelor’s life?” Kevin teases.
“Great…. But there’s something missing.”
“What’s missing?” Kevin asks
“My hot roommate….. When will you be home?” Scotty asks longingly.
“As soon as I possibly can. I miss you.” Kevin replies.
“Miss you too.” Scotty replies. “How was your day?” As Kevin starts to talk, Scotty closes his eyes. He imagines Kevin close to him and he presses the phone closer to his ear, knowing he just misses all of Kevin like crazy.
