kevin season 5
".... In FX Pilot ‘The Americans’

I’ve learned that Brothers & Sisters alum Matthew Rhys has landed the male lead opposite Keri Russell in FX‘s period drama pilot The Americans. Created/executive by Joe Weisberg, executive produced by Graham Yost and directed by Gavin O’Connor, the project centers on two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington, DC in the early 1980s. The arranged marriage of Phillip Jennings (Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Russell) grows more passionate and genuine by the day but is constantly tested by the escalation of the Cold War and the intimate, dangerous and darkly funny relationships they must maintain with a network of spies and informants under their control. The Americans is produced by Fox TV Studios and FX Prods. DreamWorks TV’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey are also executive producing. Reps for FX could not be reached for comment Friday night. Brit Rhys is with WME, Management 360 and UK’s United Agents."

I don't know if he can act. He sure never showed it on B&S. But in his defense, it took the writers 4 years, before they managed to vaguely ackwnowledge the potential that Luke Macfarlane had and they finally gave him something to DO in season 5.

If I hadn't seen Luke in "Over There" I probably wouldn't have known about the wide range of emotions he can convey. So, maybe Marini CAN act, but, frankly, I can't be bothered to find out as he leaves me stone-cold.

Oh, please, don't compare Luke with Marini :D

Marini is a celebrity and a model who wants to be an actor but has never studied for being an actor, or did theatre, and so on. And I saw him on other roles and he is even worse than in B&S.

Oh, I'm by no ways comparing Luke to Marini, just saying that Luke never had much chance to show more of himself during the first 4 seasons (I should insert a joke about Marini showing too much of himself .... but I'm too tired for that.) So if B&S was the standard to judge the actors, my opinion of Luke might not have been so high either. (and he would have really surprised me in season 5.)

And I saw him on other roles and he is even worse than in B&S.
You're braver than I am. :) The only other thing I saw with him, was his part in "Castle".... and I erased it from memory within 5 seconds... ;)

I don't know. My perception was very different. I didn't know Luke or Matthew before B&S and I was attached to the show because of them. I was really impressed by Luke and how real he was since the first moment (well, since the date night episode) and I think he had a lot to do in Season 1 and 2. Actors on tv network shows tend to be so artificial and not real, that I can't follow these shows because I don't find them realistic. B&S was the exception during the first two seasons and I found Luke an amazing actor. But that's so subjective that we can agree to disagree :D

Anyway, I was googling this afternoon and I couldn't find any "out" gay actor that has landed a not gay character lead role on a tv show after coming out, so I don't think Luke will be an exception. I hope he find other types of work though!

About Marini I saw him on "Modern Family" and he was so horrible that I had to look for him on other roles :) You should see his episode in "Hot in Cleveland". OMG! It's incredible! lol! I think I kind of love to hate him. :D
