kevin season 5
".... In FX Pilot ‘The Americans’

I’ve learned that Brothers & Sisters alum Matthew Rhys has landed the male lead opposite Keri Russell in FX‘s period drama pilot The Americans. Created/executive by Joe Weisberg, executive produced by Graham Yost and directed by Gavin O’Connor, the project centers on two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington, DC in the early 1980s. The arranged marriage of Phillip Jennings (Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Russell) grows more passionate and genuine by the day but is constantly tested by the escalation of the Cold War and the intimate, dangerous and darkly funny relationships they must maintain with a network of spies and informants under their control. The Americans is produced by Fox TV Studios and FX Prods. DreamWorks TV’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey are also executive producing. Reps for FX could not be reached for comment Friday night. Brit Rhys is with WME, Management 360 and UK’s United Agents."

I am so happy with that!! What a wonderful surprise!! I have a feeling the pilot will be picked up, and it's a cable show so we will not be worried that the network will cancel it on two episodes if it not have good ratings. :)

Seems all the male cast of B&S have been casted, Marini has landed a recurring role too. Hope we have good news about Luke very soon. Fingers crossed.

WHAT??? Really??? How is it possible?????

It's beyond me. I don't get it either.

Don't let me start with that! :) It's beyond me too but I prefer not to comment on this:

What pisses me more is that Luke is still looking for a job while Marini has landed a role. The homophobia in Hollywood is dreadful :(

Oh, no! He's going to RUIN Scruples for me?!?! Well, f*** that! I have such good memories of the original show. I read the book. I was looking forward to this. Ugh! This is bad news! Oh, well, nothing lost. I will remember the old version and forget about the new one.

I don't know why Luke hasn't resurfaced yet, but I hope he does. Soon! I kind of miss him. :)

This sounds really interesting. I'll be watching it, definitely.

Yes, me too. I'll HAVE to if it has MR in it. :)

At the same time, I think it's too bad. I had hoped that he would show a bit more of himself with guest-appearances (Dr Who perhaps?), play different charactrers. Though I'm glad that he might be in another series, I also liked that he had his freedom to do different things.

Great news! I love Keri Russell. Is it just me or does this have a Mr. and Mrs. Smith vibe? Being on cable, it's more likely to favor quality over rating dictatorship that puts forward clunky story lines. Though, it's quite unlikely it reaches me, if the show makes it to a full season order. I hope it will! I love the Internet for that reason, being able to have access to what network people didn't seem worthy enough to air. Having the freedom to watch what you want, and not wait for TV people to decide for you. Yeah!

Also, about Marini, the problem isn't so much that he landed a part, I mean, good for him. I can't let my own feelings for a character forge my opinion on the guy. What bothers me is the part he landed: a French guy from someone's past, which means he's restricted to playing French guys (he doesn't look especially French, to me) I guess it's the accent, right? It's just annoying to see in 2012 people are still type cast, I mean, acting is about playing different people than we are, right, so why should gays play gays and French people, French people, and so forth? Not that it's bad to do that, but when it becomes the only part you're offered, it gets annoying, and unfair. Unless only gays accept to play gays, and French people French people. But that's a totally different story! Ha! Rant over, sorry!

I know what you mean but I think in Marini's case the problem is that he isn't an actor and he can't make an American accent. So, it's not possible to cast him in another role, he has to be French in everything he does.

Doesn't look like French to me either. What is funny is how the American stereotype of French people is very different than the European stereotype of French people. It seems that the American stereotype of French is exactly like the European stereotype of Italian. That shows how absurd is to generalize about an especific collective.

This is GREAT :) Happy for Matthew :), chuffed to bits for him ..cant wait to see him again on screen ..

About Luke -plz lets not kid ourselves that Luke will get a g8 Gig look at what happend to T.R knight after coming out. So Luke will get some Guest Roles and not a Main Roles and i think he knew this anyway!

You're right and that makes me very sad and mad but I still have faith that he will get some recurring role. Maybe not as a romantic lead of a tv show but some cable show could cast him on an action role, a villainous or something like this. Or in a gay character role, why not? FX is a good option, or Showtime, HBO...

I am sure that if he was not "out" he would have already got a lead role like Dave Annable or Matthew but I want to think positive and hope he gets something :) It's a pity that he's being punished for being honest and brave tough.

I don't know. A lot will also depend on Luke's own desire to work. He did often come across as someone who's more into theatre, so I wouldn't be surprised if he went in that direction, rather than tv or movie.
(I hope not, because I'd love to see more of him.) I guess, it all depends on the luck you have as an actor.

Plus there are a lot of straight actors too that were once very popular and now are not heard from anymore...

Awesomeness! Looking forward to seeing Matthew on screen again. I'd love to see Luke find something as well. And B&S ruined Marini for me by pushing him as a sex object. Which may be all he has because I don't think the guy can act.

I don't know if he can act. He sure never showed it on B&S. But in his defense, it took the writers 4 years, before they managed to vaguely ackwnowledge the potential that Luke Macfarlane had and they finally gave him something to DO in season 5.

If I hadn't seen Luke in "Over There" I probably wouldn't have known about the wide range of emotions he can convey. So, maybe Marini CAN act, but, frankly, I can't be bothered to find out as he leaves me stone-cold.
