About: Kevin, Scotty, Jason, Chad
Disclaimer: I don’t own Brothers and Sisters, but Alex Grodin is a figment of MY own sick mind.
Summary: The boys realize that they need to talk. Resistance is futile.
Writer's note: It helps if you know my series: Happy now? and Last Christmas
The house is still a bit chilly when Kevin knocks on the door of Jason’s room to ask him if he wants breakfast. There’s no reply and, worried, Kevin opens the door to find the room empty and the bed not slept in. For a single moment, he feels the fear paralyze him, the next he remembers that there’s no reason to be afraid anymore.
He realizes where Jason might be and whistles softly to get Scotty’s attention, before Scotty goes to the kitchen.
“Jase is not in his room.” He says quietly and he points at Chad’s door. “Care to guess where he slept last night?”
“Something tells me it wasn’t on the couch.” Scotty replies with a grin.
“Come on.” Kevin orders with a mischievous smile, walking up to Chad’s door.
“We can’t do that!” But Scotty’s own words get contradicted by the expecting look on his face.
“Of course we can.”
“What if they’re… you know…. busy?”
“Then they won’t notice us, now will they?” Scotty hesitates between his curiosity and trying to respect Chad’s privacy, … but his curiosity ultimately wins.
Kevin is the first in the room and then Scotty also sees Jason, sound asleep in Chad’s arms. They look so sweet that Scotty just wants to let them continue sleeping, but Kevin has other ideas. In the corner is a little couch with several decorative pillows on it and Kevin grabs them and from a reasonable distance he flings one of them at Jason’s head.
Scotty takes a step back, out of the fire-line, when Jason wake up with an annoyed growl, only to see a playful Kevin jumping around, waiting for Jason’s retaliation.
“I hate you.” Jason grabs the pillow and throws it back at Kevin who manages to avoid being hit.
Then the fights really starts and Scotty is just in time to help Chad out of the ‘battle-zone’, so Chad’s arm won’t get hurt again. They watch with an amused smile how the small pillows go back and forth, until Kevin calls for a truce and he and Jason both end up on the bed, exhausted, but giggling like two 5-year olds.
“That was fun.” Kevin laughs. “It has been a while since I’ve done that.”
“For me too.” Jason admits. He sits up and hands Kevin the last pillow so Kevin can throw them back on the couch with an amazingly good aim. “But it was a rude awakening.”
“Yeah, sorry, ‘bout that. Scotty and I were wondering if you guys wanted breakfast?”
“We’ll be down in a few minutes…” Chad answers.
“Oh, … so no sex before breakfast, huh?” Kevin teases.
“It’s me you’re talking about…. Lost certain memories….?” Chad immediately replies.
“No my memories are just fine, I’d almost ask you to refresh them, but I doubt Scotty would approve…” He gives Scotty a grin and Scotty replies benevolently:
“Well, dear, that all depends on the divorce-settlement naturally….”
“Outch!” Chad reacts.
“And I don’t think he’s kidding…” Jason observes.
“No, he’s not.” Scotty gives Kevin a mock-warning glance, before suggesting: “How about breakfast?”
“Sounds good to me.” Jason replies.
“Good, see you downstairs in a bit, then.” And with those words Scotty leaves the room, followed immediately by Kevin. Chad shakes his head at the brutal wake-up call and turns to Jason.
“Do you mind?”
“Mind what? Breakfast? No, not really, I’m starving.”
“No. I mean that they saw us together.”
“You do realize that now we’ll have to kill them.” Jason jokes, before he can think about it, that the joke could be considered inappropriate with everything that has happened with Alex.
“Wow! How politically incorrect! There are unknown sides to you, Mr McCallister.”
“Stop it… I was just…”
“… joking… I get it. It’s just …. Who knew you could be funny too?” Chad teases and Jason’s mischievous nature starts to show.
“I must have my revenge on Kevin, though…”
“We’ll think of something, then.” Chad promises. Jason wraps his arms around Chad’s neck and kisses him. It is such a spontaneous motion that Chad is momentarily surprised, but then he replies to the kiss and considers that breakfast can wait a bit longer.
