“Are you sure?” Chad asks, turning to Jason. Jason nods. Yes, this is where he needs to get out. His church is close. He can walk the rest o the distance.
“Thank you for driving me.” Jason replies. He looks at Chad, suddenly feeling trapped. Will Chad kiss him? If he does, Jason is pretty sure he’ll die on the spot.

Chad catches Jason’s look. The fear, the expectation, and he sighs in his mind.
“You’re not really out, are you?” Chad asks, taking Jason by surprise.
“No.” Jason knows he’s not a good liar. Hiding things, that he can do, but lying about it, no.

“Why? If you’re not out… It feels like you don’t even want  to get out…. What do you expect? From me? From your friends?”
“I don’t know. Answers. Decisions. Approval… I don’t know.”
“Why not simply tell the truth?” Chad wants to know.

Jason takes a deep breath. He clearly struggles with the answer, but Chad waits patiently for him to reply.
“You see that church over there? That is where I preach... I'm a minister... In a Catholic church... ”
“Come again?”

“Not only that. I come from a fanatically Republican family, where they have a very strict opinion on homosexuality… They hate it! And everyone ‘inflicted’ with it. .. My brother is Senator Robert McCallister.”
“The one who is so outspoken against gay marriage?”

“Yes…. So, you see, it’s not going to be that easy… If I come out… it will get around and it will cost me everything. My family, my job, my reputation… Everything.” Jason bites his lip. “At the same time, I feel more and more like I cannot go on like this. All these years I’ve been celibate. I've never… ” He gives Chad a shy look.

“My religion was a good thing to hide my homosexuality behind...but I noticed that it’s more and more on my mind. Almost becoming an obsession for me. And I no longer know, if I should go on fighting or simply give up.” Jason checks his watch. “I have to go… they’re waiting for me…” Jason looks so lonely that Chad grabs his arm.

“Wait.” He gives Jason a card. “This is my address and phone-number. If you ever need a place to run to and hide from Republicans with shot-guns, call me.” He jokes, Jason laughs, but they both know, it’s not really funny.
“Thank you… I’ll … I’ll treasure it…. Chad? … I’m sorry, if I’ve given you the wrong idea.”

“It’s alright. Not sure what I was thinking anyway.” Chad laughs as Jason gets out of the car. Jason waves one last time and then disappears in the crowd and then Chad’s smile fades. That is really too bad. He had hoped he and Jason would get along. But a minister? And a porn-star? “Sounds like a good title for a bad movie.” Chad sighs.

He turns his car around. Somehow, he’s glad Jason is gone. There is something that he needs to do. And it’s a good thing, that he didn’t really look in the rear-view mirror, because then he would have noticed that Jason was not going to the church, but instead went a completely different direction.

Kitty taps impatiently with her foot on the ground. She surfs through the channels, but nothing holds her attention long enough. She keeps thinking about William’s words. She’s still so angry with him. He ruined a wonderful party. And why? Kevin got married to another man. So what?

She presses the ‘off’ button on her remote, gets up, puts on her coat and searches her keys. She knows it will not do to spend the rest of the night staring at the tv. She has to do something or she’ll go insane… She thinks it over once again on the threshold, but then, without further delay, she closes the door behind her.

Scotty may be asleep, but Kevin isn’t. After 20 minutes of staring at the ceiling, going over all aspects of what happened this day, he’s done. He needs to clear his mind. Do something… So he slips out of bed and gets dressed. He smiles with regret when he sees Scotty’s sleeping form. He should get back in bed, but he can’t. His mind is too busy.

Though the click of the lock, as it closes behind Kevin, is not that loud, it wakes Scotty up from an uneasy dream. He turns over, searching for Kevin, but then notices Kevin is gone.
“Kevin?” He checks the bathroom, the living-room and the kitchen, then sees the car keys are gone as well. He has a pretty good idea where Kevin went to, so he quickly gets dressed as well and leaves the loft to find Kevin.

Emily paces the floor of her home. She feels all this extra energy inside her, since this afternoon. It was all very intense. As happy as she is that William got what he deserved for cheating on Nora and lying to Holly, she’s also worried about those two. Add to that the anger she feels towards William for what he had said to his children…. Man, she needs to get rid of the extra adrenaline.

Nora is glad she came in her own car, rather than drive up with Sarah. This gives her the freedom to do what she wants and go where she needs to go. She knows she cannot leave things the way they are. And there’s one person who can help her clear up the mess in her head.

“Where are you going?” Justin asks.
“Cinnamon Jack.” Jordan replies. “I’m sorry Justin. I’m wondering if tonight I shouldn’t stay with you, after all that happened today, but … I need to get out… Hey! Maybe I’ll even get lucky tonight.” However, his smile is so sarcastic, that it’s obvious to Justin that Jordan isn’t counting on it.

On one hand Justin is glad that Jordan leaves him alone. It gives him the feeling that Jordan trusts him enough to not screw up… But now Justin doesn’t have Jordan to worry about. And Tyler is still at work as well. This means he’s alone… Alone to think and review, to weigh words and come to a conclusion.

Sarah would probably not have left her house, if she had known that her mother had left too, but she didn’t check. Besides she doesn’t plan to be gone for long. But there’s someone she needs to talk to tonight to try and get everything into perspective again. So, maybe she drives a bit faster than she’s supposed to, but Sarah feels like she’s a woman with a mission.

“Tommy? Why don’t you come to bed?” Julia looks very pretty in her new night-gown and Tommy is tempted to accept her offer, but he shakes his head as he pulls her into his arms, making her straddle him. The silk feels so soft and smooth under his hands.
Her lips caress his.

“I’m sorry, sweetheart, I’m not in the mood. I’m so angry with my dad….”
“I know, baby. I’d thought you might want to release some of that tension..”
“You know, I think you’re right. I should just do that. Tell you what. I’m going over to the office and bring some of this paperwork back.

The drive will help me clear my head and when I return… I’ll take you up on your offer and tomorrow? We’ll sleep in and stay in bed all day… I’m tired of Ojai and my dad. I’m done.” At first Julia is disappointed with Tommy’s words, but then the prospect of having Tommy in her bed all day tomorrow cheers her up, so she nods that she agrees and lets him go.

Holly is glad that Emily brought her back, because it probably would have been dangerous for her to drive, in the emotional state she was in, but now that the confusion and the shock have worn off, she’s angry. And her speed indicator shows her that that is not very safe either.

But Holly had gone over everything that happened tonight. Her anger is mostly directed at herself. She has called herself everything she could think of, with ‘stupid’ and ‘blind’ topping the list. Then she focused her anger on William… that rat… who knew he was married, who knew so much about Holly, about Nora and his own family … and yet, had been more than willing to hurt every single one of them.

Someone is in the house, reminding William that the front-door is not locked.

‘Subtle’ hint:
No one enters with a weapon. I’m not going for a “Who shot JR Ewing… William Walker?” story-line. No need to let your thoughts go in that direction. There will be no Jessica Fletcher, Columbo or Miss Marple sleuthing.... Sorry. :)
